Mix the perfect amaretto cocktail

Grandma knew her amaretto stands on its own over ice, but she also understood it's important for everyone to find their favorite style.

STRONG

Godfather or New Fashioned

A strong, spirit-forward classic using your choice of whiskey.

Ingredients

2 oz scotch (Godfather) or bourbon (New Fashioned)
1/4 oz Oak City Amaretto
2 dashes of your favorite bitters (for New Fashioned)

Method

Combine all ingredients into a mixing glass with ice. Stir until chilled. Serve over a glass with fresh ice.

Ginger Amaretto

Ingredients

4 oz Ginger Beer
2 oz Oak City Amaretto
1/4 oz Fresh Lime

Method

Pour ingredients over a glass with ice and serve with a lime wedge.

Carolina "Christmas" Punch

A festive punch perfect for sharing (scale down for individual).

Ingredients

12½ oz Vodka
12½ oz Oak City Amaretto
8½ oz Cheerwine Syrup (or Cheerwine)
8½ oz Lemon Juice & 8 oz Orange Juice
20 oz Sparkling Apple Cider
½ oz Angostura Bitters
8 oz Ice (for dilution)

Method

Combine all ingredients over ice in a punch bowl. Decorate for the season. Serve into rocks glasses over prepared Cheerwine ice cubes.

Oak City Amaretto Sour

The gold standard sour with a frothy egg white finish.

Ingredients

1.5 oz Oak City Amaretto
3/4 oz Bourbon
1 oz Lemon Juice
1 tsp Simple Syrup
1/2 oz Egg White

Method

Combine ingredients into a shaker. Shake for 15 seconds. Add ice to shaker and shake again until chilled. Strain into a glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lemon twist and brandied cherries.

Sicilian Margarita

A beautiful Italian twist on the classic Margarita.

Ingredients

2 oz Tequila
1/2 oz Oak City Amaretto
3/4 oz Orange Liqueur (Cointreau)
3/4 oz Lime Juice
3/4 oz Agave Nectar or Simple Syrup

Method

Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until chilled. Strain into a glass w/ or w/o ice and a salted/sugar rim. Garnish with a lime wedge.

An elegant, botanical, and frothy variation on the Godmother.

Ingredients

1.5 oz Oak City Amaretto
1 oz Bedlam Vodka
1/2 oz Green Chartreuse
1/2 oz Lime Juice
1/4 oz Simple Syrup
1/2 oz Aquafaba (or one egg white)

Method

Shake well on ice, then strain, remove ice and dry shake. Serve up.

Bitter Giueseppe

An amaro-forward cocktail brilliantly balanced by amaretto.

Ingredients

2 oz Cynar
3/4 oz Sweet Vermouth
1/2 oz Oak City Amaretto
1/4 oz Lemon Juice
6 dashes Orange Bitters

Method

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until chilled. Strain into an old-fashioned glass over a large ice cube. Garnish with a twist of lemon.

Coffee Venetian

A complex blend balancing rich amaretto, coffee, and herbal bitters.

Ingredients

1 oz Conniption Gin
1 oz Vermouth Rosso
1/3 oz Coffee Infused Campari
1/3 oz Oak City Amaretto
1/3 oz Durham Distillery Damn Fine Coffee Liqueur
1 dash Orange Bitters

Method

Combine all liquids in mixing glass and stir for 20-30 seconds, then strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with dehydrated lemon. (To make infused Campari, let 1 tbsp coffee beans sit in 2.5 oz Campari for 24 hrs).

Raleigh Rum MaiTai

A fruity, island-inspired concoction anchored by sweet dark rum.

Ingredients

1 oz Raleigh Rum - Sweet Dark Rum
1 oz Oak City Amaretto
3 oz Orange Juice
3 oz Pineapple Juice
1 dash Grenadine Syrup

Method

Fill a glass with ice. Add the rum and amaretto. Add the juices. Add a splash of grenadine.

OCA Mojito

Refreshing and bright. Our amaretto meets classic rum and mint.

Ingredients

1 oz Oak City Amaretto
1.5 oz Raleigh Rum White Rum
0.75 oz Lime Juice
0.5 oz Simple Syrup
Seltzer & 3-5 Mint Leaves

Method

Muddle mint leaves with lime slice, then add amaretto, rum, simple syrup, and lime juice. Shake with ice, pour into a Collins glass, and top with seltzer.

Birthday Cake Martini

A decadent liquid dessert served with a fun sprinkle rim.

Ingredients

2 oz Whipped Cream Vodka
1.5 oz Oak City Amaretto
1 oz White Chocolate Liqueur
2 oz Half and Half
Honey and Sprinkles (for rim)

Method

Place honey and sprinkles in two shallow dishes. Dip martini rim first in honey, then sprinkles. In a shaker, combine ingredients with ice and shake very well. Pour into prepared glass.

The perfect dunking companion for your coffee or amaretto.

Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder & 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
5 tbsp softened unsalted butter & 1 cup sugar
2 large eggs & 3 tbsp Oak City Amaretto
1 cup chopped chocolate-covered almonds

Method

Preheat oven to 350F. Whisk dry ingredients. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and amaretto. Mix in dry ingredients. Fold in almonds. Shape into three 12-inch logs. Bake 20-25 mins. Cool, cut slightly on the bias 1-inch thick, and bake at 250F for 20-25 mins until dry and golden.

What makes Oak City Amaretto different?

Unlike other amarettos, Oak City Amaretto uses all-natural ingredients and is caramel coloring free, meaning you enjoy a smoother drink.

Many amarettos use caramel coloring to provide the coloring, ours comes from the molasses in our natural sugars.

Does your amaretto have allergens?

While we use all-natural almond extract, our supplier states that the oils are extracted in such a way that there are no nut allergens.

Where does the name "Oak City" come from?

Raleigh, North Carolina is known as the "City of Oaks". Our name is an ode to the city where we got our start in 2017.
